With a mission to mobilize savings and foster mutual support, the SACCO has grown from a mere 20 members to a thriving community of 205, extending its reach beyond its initial employer bond to the entrepreneurial spirits in Githogoro, Kiambu County.

The Evolution of Runda Water SACCO

Runda Water SACCO’s journey began in 2024 with a group of 20 employees from Runda Water, aiming to create a platform for members to mobilize savings and assist each other financially. Partnering with a cooperative bank branch at Gigiri and registering under the umbrella body KUSCCO, the SACCO held its first AGM, marking the official start of its operations.

Growth and Expansion

From its humble beginnings, the SACCO has experienced significant growth, boasting a membership of 205, with 190 active members. While initially focused on employees of Runda Water, the SACCO has expanded its reach to include business owners in the neighboring Githogoro Area in Kiambu County.

Anthony joined the SACCO in 2020 as an accountant to assist the treasurer and cater to the financial needs of members outside the employer common bond. His role involves managing SACCO accounts, filing deposit slips, and ensuring the accounts are in order, especially for those not employed by Runda Water.

    Looking ahead, Anthony expresses a desire for a regional partnership with Kwara to increase public awareness and participation in the SACCO. He envisions a platform where the public can recognize and access Runda Water SACCO, along with other SACCOs under Kwara
