The Kwara-KUSCCO Partnership Summit

A New Dawn for SACCOs

Welcome to the inaugural article of our six-part series covering the transformative Kwara-KUSCCO Partnership Summit. In this comprehensive series, we will delve into the insights, innovations, and outcomes of this landmark event, where the SACCO industry’s future was shaped. Part 1 sets the stage for what promises to be a collaborative journey toward a brighter future for SACCOs.

At the heart of the summit were the powerful keynote addresses that set the tone for the two-day event. Mr. George Ototo, KUSCCO’s GMD, opened with a thought-provoking African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.” This message resonated deeply, highlighting the importance of collaboration and unity in the SACCO sector.

If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.

Mr. George Ototo, Kuscco Group Managing Director

KUSCCO’s motivation for this partnership was evident—they aimed to propel the SACCO sector to the next level. Expectations were high, with a strong emphasis on training and a keen awareness of the need for a return on investment (ROI). The message was clear: execute as if your life depended on the sale. Issues were presented as motivators, underscoring the importance of both monetary and intrinsic motivation in driving success.

The summit stressed the importance of feedback. Training is an investment, and it was made clear that participants should make the most of it by asking questions and ensuring seamless implementation. The ultimate goal was to measure the impact of this partnership and drive positive change in the SACCO industry.

In closing, our Co-Founder & CEO Cynthia expressed gratitude for the partnership with KUSCCO and the journey that led to this point. Kwara’s origin story, born from a desire to make SACCOs accessible to everyone, resonated deeply with the summit’s mission. Cynthia recognized the integrity and support provided by KUSCCO and stressed the importance of education and technology in creating an environment where SACCOs can thrive.

We are committed to making SACCOs accessible to everyone.

Cynthia’s keynote, while inspirational, was just one piece of this collaborative puzzle.
